In this post, we talk about laminate flooring in the kitchen, the pros and cons of laminate and why you could consider it for your kitchen.

Are you considering laminate flooring in the kitchen?

Laminate flooring is a great option for the kitchen.

It is a durable material that stands up to the day to day spills and accidents of the kitchen.

Laminate flooring is versatile and can mimic the appearance of either hardwood or tile but with a lower price tag.

The high-end laminate flooring available to you today can be hard to distinguish from the real materials such as hardwood that it mimics.

Facts about laminate

What is laminate made of?

Laminate is made up of four separate layers fused together with high pressure.

The top layer is made of a melamine layer. This is the wear layer and has a tough finish resistant to stain, fade, and wear.

The second layer is made from a decorative melamine layer that has a high-resolution photograph. This is what gives laminate the appearance of natural hardwood, stone, or ceramic tile.

The third layer is a dense, strong inner layer made from compressed wood fibers.

The final layer is a melamine backing layer that provides a barrier to moisture and provides structural stability.

How tough is laminate?

Laminate flooring is extremely durable. It can withstand spills, heavy traffic, and pets.

How do you clean laminate?

Sweep, dust, or vacuum regularly, and occasionally wipe the surface with a damp mop or cloth.

Use a damp cloth to wipe up spills immediately. Do not allow liquids to stand on your floor for long periods.

Keep floors free of dirt and sand, as they can scratch the surface over time. Clean the floor with products made specifically for laminate floors. Do not wash or mop the floor with soap, water, oil-soap detergent or liquid cleaning products.

Watch for separation between boards.
